HOBBIES:

Being a designer I spend countless hours upon hours (sometimes days) sitting in an office chair staring at a computer monitor. For this reason I try to get outside and do something…anything whenever I can to retain my sanity. This leads to more and more hobbies all the time. I have created this page to show you what I like to do for fun in my "free" time.

PHOTOGRAPHY:

For my college graduation gift my parents gave me a Nikon D70 digital SLR camera. I love to take pictures with it especially on my hiking trips. I have recently become very interested in wildlife photography and go on all day photo "hunts" whenever I can.

HIKING:

Growing up and living on a fairly large farm/ranch in Central Texas I have a lot of space to get out and enjoy the great outdoors. I have always enjoyed wildlife and the outdoors so I hike around our property taking pictures of wildlife and beautiful scenery.

MOUNTAIN BIKING:

In college a very good friend of mine introduced me to the world of Mountain Biking. Not long after I was hooked and even built my own bike from the frame up. I usually ride local established trails and I have had the chance to ride in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

DISC GOLF:

This game was introduced to me while in college (like most who play it). I learned how to play on a made up course on the Texas Tech campus where you had to hit certain trashcans, go around different building arches and hit statues. I now play on a great course here in Temple, TX, which is literally 200 yards from my office. I usually play with my dad and brother (who is very good).

SKIING:

My dad took my brother and sister and I skiing for the first time in Colorado in 1996 and I've never looked back since. When I was in school at Texas Tech in Lubbock I was only 3.5 hours away from Ruidoso, NM, so my friends and I made our annual pilgrimage & had a blast. I have been skiing at least once every year since 96 and I don't plan on stopping now.

BOWLING:

For so long I was like many of us who just go bowling about once year. The local bowling alley started a special on Wednesdays for $10 per lane per hour. My family and I started going every once in a while. Now we go every Wednesday and we all have our own shoes & bowling balls.

TARGET SHOOTING:

From an early age my father taught my sister, brother and I firearm use & safety. I haven't really done a lot of hunting I just enjoyed shooting and improving my aim. I recently put together a customized Savage Model 10FLP (left hand bolt action Law Enforcement Sniper) 308 WIN. I have had a lot of fun with it so far.

SKEET SHOOTING:

My best friend from high school took me skeet shooting for the first time in the winter on '05. I loved it from the first shot. It was so changeling and yet relaxing. We have the perfect place to shoot on our ranch so it had been a very convenient hobby. I'm so lucky.

FISHING:

Fishing could possibly be my first hobby. We have water tanks (ponds) all over our ranch with perch & bass. We also have land on a river with a lot of catfish. When I was 16 I was in a car wreck and was unable to do much. What I could do was fish and fish I did. A friend of mine fished almost everyday that summer. Now I don't get to fish as often but I still try and go at least once a week during the spring, summer and fall. My friend & tried fly fishing for the first time Labor Day weekend of 2005 in Colorado. It was very very hard but a lot of fun.

CAMPING:

We did a lot of camping as a family when I was younger. When I went to college we would go camping on long weekends as a way to get-away-from-it-all. Everything is better when you're camping…the air, sun, fun and of course the food!

HORSESHOES / WASHERS:

These are my lazy Sunday afternoon games. A while back I built very nice horseshoe and washer pits at my parents' house. I love to go out and pitch shoes & washers under the big oaks and elms in front of the house with my friends and family. Everything in the world seems simpler when your drinking a glass of sun brewed ice tea and pitch a couple shoes with the ones you love.

DEN GAMES:

Den games (also can be called Bar games) include darts, billiards, shuffleboard, dominoes & cards. I was lucky to have a great game room at my folks place. There was a red felt pool table, dart board cabinet (that I built) and a very nice 8 person wood game table that flipped over to make a bumper pool table. I love to play 8 ball & 9 ball and I'm actually not to bad. When I was in college and had a little free time my friends and I would go to Cricket's Bar & Grill in Lubbock, TX and play pool and shuffleboard.

ARCHERY:

In middle school my friend and I did a history report on Native American hunting methods with focus on the bow and arrow. We had to make our own bow & arrow and it actually worked pretty well. I was hooked. My brother and sister gave me my first compound bow for Christmas in 97. I love the challenge that archery presents and just love to shoot.

BASEBALL:

Next to fishing this it one of my longest running hobbies. I started out paying tee ball at the age of 5. I played summer league ball all the way to my senior year in high school. In high school I also played football, basketball and ran track but baseball was my true love. My freshman year I was a pitcher and catcher but later found my permanent spot at first base and played there all they way through my senior year. I don't get to play baseball any more but in college I did get to play on intramural softball teams and that's close enough for me. I still play on the occasional softball team around town and have a great time.

GOLF:

I don't really know if golf qualifies for this list. I hardly ever play due to cost & time. I am absolutely terrible but I love to play. I took a golf class in college because I was told that's where a lot of business deals are made. I had a great time and actually got a lot better in just one semester of the class. I still love to play and hope that I will get the chance to go more often.

HACKY SACK:

I actually took up hack sack with some of my friends in high school as a way to stretch our legs out before baseball games and track meets. In college we would play hacky sack during our breaks from our long 3-hour class periods. I found that hacky sack is a great way to make friends at outdoor concerts and events.
